The Rehoboth Beach Library is run by a Board of Trustees. The members, appointed by the Superior Court Judge of Sussex County, serve five-year terms. The Board meets on the second Wednesday of every month except in special circumstances. If you would like to contact the Board, contact the Library.
The Rehoboth Beach Public Library Board of Trustees will be considering applications for two upcoming Board vacancies. The Board consists of five (5) members from the Rehoboth Beach area. Each Board member is appointed for a five (5) year term with a maximum of two terms. Candidates selected will become At Large members until Board seats become available (7/1/22 and 7/1/23). The Board meets once per month for approximately two hours. Additional meetings may be held as circumstances warrant. The Board functions as the policy making body, with fiscal responsibility, long range planning, operations, and maintenance of physical facilities for the Rehoboth Beach Public Library.
The Rehoboth Beach Public Library is an independent library that receives functional guidance from the Sussex County and Delaware State Library Directors.
This is a particularly challenging period for the library. Planning is currently underway for a potential expansion/renovation of the library facilities as indicated by a recently completed strategic plan. The planning phase is expected to be completed this Spring. Design would be completed in 2022 and construction commencing as early as 2023.
We are looking for dynamic, positive individuals who would give their energy to the library. They would be part of a team that will lead the library into a new era. Given the near-term facilities challenges, candidates with backgrounds in law, commerce, management, or similar experience are desired, but not required.
Anyone interested in applying for a position on the Board of Trustees should email a resume to firstname.lastname@example.org or drop a copy off at the Rehoboth Beach Public Library.
